Skilled Worker Stream (MPNP)
Manitoba's main employer- and labour-market-driven route. Candidates build an Expression of Interest profile, are ranked on a 1,000-point system, and the highest scorers (or those in targeted categories) get a Letter of Advice to Apply. Candidates may declare an Express Entry profile number, but this is not an Express Entry stream.
Who it suits
- Skilled workers already working in Manitoba (Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway)
- Skilled workers abroad with a Manitoba connection or a direct MPNP invitation (Skilled Worker Overseas pathway)
Requirements
- PathwaysThe stream has two pathways: Skilled Worker in Manitoba (for people already working in the province) and Skilled Worker Overseas (for candidates outside Canada). ↗ immigratemanitoba.com
- Expression of interestCandidates submit an online Expression of Interest, are ranked on six factors (language 125, age 75, work experience 175, education 125, adaptability 500, risk assessment up to -200), and the MPNP invites top scorers to apply. Profiles are valid one year and there is no cap on submissions. ↗ immigratemanitoba.com
How candidates are selected
Expression of Interest pool ranked on a 1,000-point system; periodic draws issue Letters of Advice to Apply, increasingly by category (health occupations, completed post-secondary study in Manitoba, natural and applied sciences, strategic recruitment initiatives, Francophone selection). Scores are not always published; some categories have no score cutoff.
Location requirement: Manitoba connection required (current work in Manitoba, or family/friend support, past study/work in Manitoba, or a strategic recruitment invitation)
Processing: After a nomination, IRCC's service standards are 180 days for Express Entry-linked PNP applications and 11 months for paper (non-Express Entry) PNP applications; both exclude the province's own processing time. Live estimates are on IRCC's processing-times tool.
